Collaborating with colleagues
In most of our classes it has been encouraged to collaborate with colleagues. It is a form of best practice and simply just makes sense. However, I have seen very little collaboration in the schools I have worked in. That doesn't mean that it doesn't occur but I have never witnessed it or even seen a trace of it. I think it is extremely important to work close with the entire school faulty and administration. In order to provide the best possible environment for our students we must work together. Specifically those teacher who teach above and below you. I think it is essential that we understnad how the students have been learning and progressing as well as what they are expected to know at the next level. I hope to establish a good working relationship with my colleauges.

ReplyDeleteI agree that it is important to collaborate with fellow teachers. I haven't spent a lot of time in schools but I have worked at my office for some time now. I could not do it without my co-workers supporting me day in and day out. We have such a great environment and it's all because we work together. Of course we each have our own responsibilities but if I get stuck on something I can turn to one of them for help. They are also a great source for stress relief. I can always count on them for a good laugh when I just need to relax for a minute. I hope to carry this type of work environment over to my new profession. I would be lost without my co-workers.
Ashley you need not worry. You are a very personable person and I'm sure it will be easy for you to collaborate with your colleagues:)
